After many days with fierce battles finally we have come to the end of the champinoship. Today was the penultimate eighth round in Antalya and it has proved to be a decisive one in many categories.
First of all whatever happens in the final round won’t change a fact: Arda Çamlar from Turkey is the 2019 World Schools Champion in u-11 category! Çamlar has secured a 1.5 point gap with the second and third players so he has already guaranteed the victory! Well done!
Although they haven’t exactly guaranteed the gold medal mathematically there are also two players leading their categories with 1 point lead: Amanzhol from Kazakhstan in u-7 girls category and FM Ulziikhishigjargal in u-17 girls both of whom will probably get gold medals. In most other categories we have leaders with half a point gap: Dolas (IND) in u-7, Begmuratov (UZB) in u-9, Sindarov (UZB) in u-15, Yakubboev (UZB) in u-17, Shuqja (ALB) in u-13 girls and Nurgali (KAZ) in u-15 girls. All of them will enter the final round with a significant advantage for the championship title.
In three categories however we have joint leaders and everything will be decided in the final round: Silich (BLR), Suleymanli (AZE) and Taspinar (TUR) all share the lead in u-13, Mgeladze (GEO) and Kaliakhmet (KAZ) have secured the first two places in u-9 girls but the colors of their medals are not yet clear and Enkhrii (MGL) and Kirtadze (GEO) are the joint leaders in u-11 girls.
The final round will start on Friday April 26 at 10:00 local time. We wish good luck to all players!

Before we had written that things are becoming clearer but today’s round muddied waters in some categories again.
The biggest surprise of the day was of course Uzbek prodigy GM Javokhir Sindarov’s loss to CM İlyasli from Azerbaijan in u-15 open category. The Azeri talent played an inspired game and although it wasn’t flawless in the end he managed to win! With that score now everything starts anew in this category as now both İlyaslı and Sindarov are at 5,5 points and with a strong finish the Azeri player just might take the gold medal! Also in u-11 girls category things have changed as the leader Khamdamova lost to Enkhrii from Mongolia and with Zakirova’s game also drawn now there is a tie for leadership and everything is open again! In u-13 girls WCM Keskin of Turkey who had a gap of one point lost to Albanian Shuqja and now has to share the first place with her opponent. So as you can see in many age categories where it seemed like the medal race has slowed down everything is up for grabs after seventh round!
The eighth and penultimate round of the championship will start on Thursday April 25 at 15:00 local time. We wish good luck to all players!

It was the sixth day in Antalya and going into the last three rounds in many categories things are becoming clearer.
After six rounds Dolas ( u-7 Open) from India and Begmuratov from Uzbekistan (u-9 Open) are still in lead with perfect scores! Both players likely to become champions! Also Amanzhov (KAZ) has managed to make 6/6 in u-7 Girls and carries a huge advantage into the final rounds! In open sections of both u-11 and u-13 age categories we see local players at the top whereas u-15 and u-17 are dominated by Uzbek superstars Sindarov, Yakubboev and Vokhidov. U-13 girls has seen a superb performance of Elif Keskin and she too is likely to become the champion of her category. In other categories despite there are sole leaders by half-points at the top, everything is still open!
The seventh round of the championship will start on Wednesday April 24 at 15:00 local time. We wish good luck to all players!
